Currently Professor of
Studio Art at the University of Virginia, Richard
Crozier is one of the most sensitive contemporary
painters of the Virginia landscape. His work has
appeared in more than fifty solo and group exhibitions
and hangs in many corporate and private collections.
Born in 1944 in Honolulu, Hawaii, Professor Crozier
is a graduate of the University of Washington, Seattle
(B.F.A., 1968), and the University of California,
Davis (M.F.A., 1974) where he studied with Wayne
Thiebaud. Professor Crozier is represented by galleries
in Charlotte NC and Richmond and has recently shown
in Davis CA, Louisville KY, and the Southeastern
Center for Contemporary Art in Winston-Salem NC.
His teaching schedule at the University of Virginia
regularly includes both introductory drawing and
painting courses as well as directing advanced projects
in painting. A senior member of the Department's
faculty, Richard Crozier has been actively involved
in community arts and service, while also maintaining
an active exhibition schedule.
