Pattye
Leggett is a still life painter who lives and creates
in Charlottesville, Virginia. She is originally
from Decatur, Alabama, and is a graduate of Randolph-Macon
Woman's College, Lynchburg, Virginia, where she
studied political science and piano. She developed
an interest in painting later in life and is largely
self-taught. She enjoys painting both traditional
and non-traditional still life subject matter from
close observation.
She has shown her paintings for many years in the
Charlottesville area. She has also shown at the
former Simonne-Sterne Gallery in New Orleans, Louisiana,
and is currently showing at the New Orleans Academy
of Fine Arts where she will have a one-person show
in October of 2008. Her work is included in the
collections of the University of Virginia Hospital,
the Blue Ridge School in Dyke, Virginia, and in
numerous private collections.
