Central Grounds Parking Garage (Free Parking)

400 Emmet Street, located underneath the UVA Bookstore.  Free parking for all Symphony concerts.

From the north: Follow 29 South through Charlottesville.  As you pass Barracks Road Shopping Center, 29 South becomes Emmet Street.  Follow Emmet Street through four lights (the fourth light will be at the intersection of Emmet and Ivy.  The UVA tennis courts will be ahead of you on the left).  After you pass Lewis Mountain Road on your right, the entrance to the parking garage will be on your left.

From I-64: Take Exit 118B to Charlottesville and then the immediate right hand exit.  At the end of the ramp, turn right onto Fontaine Avenue.  At the second light, go straight as Fontaine becomes Jefferson Park Avenue.  At the second light, turn left onto Emmet Street.  After you pass under three bridges, turn right into the parking garage.

C1 Parking Lot (Handicap & Permit Parking Only)

The C 1 lot is located on Cabell Drive, off McCormick Road behind Clark and Bryan Halls.  This lot is the closest parking for disabled and limited mobility patrons.  For all Symphony concerts, parking in the C1 parking lot requires a Symphony parking permit or a state-issued handicap parking hangtag or license plates.

Symphony parking permits for the C1 lot cost $60.00 and are valid for the five-concert Masterworks series and both Holiday Concerts.  Permit quantities are extremely limited and are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.  Contact the Symphony office at (434) 924-3139 to purchase a permit.  If you have a state-issued handicap hangtag or license plates, you do not need a Symphony parking permit.

Getting from the C1 lot to Old Cabell Hall:  Enter Bryan Hall on the parking lot level (entrance below the staircase).  In the vestibule, turn left.  The elevator is on your left.  Take the elevator to the 3rd floor.  Exit the elevator, turn right, then left and exit the building.  Turn right and follow the covered walkway to the Lawn; at the end of the walkway, Old Cabell Hall is directly in front of you.  Take a slight left to the front of Old Cabell Hall; there is a ramp by the right entrance.

Public Transportation

There are a number of Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) bus routes with stops within a short walk of Old Cabell Hall:

CAT Free Trolley (click for map/schedule)Disembark at the Garrett Hall/UVA Amphitheater stop or the New Cabell Hall stop.

CAT Route 7 (click for map/schedule)Heading northbound, disembark at the JPA stop.  Heading southbound, get off at the UVA Hospital stop.

CAT Route 4 (click for map/schedule) Get off at the UVA Hospital stop.

Accessibility

The Symphony is committed to provided accessible concert experiences to our patrons.  Wheelchair accessible seating options are available in both Old Cabell Hall and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Performing Arts Center; please discuss your needs when purchasing your tickets or subscriptions.

Handicap accessible parking is available in the C1 lot to all patrons with a Symphony parking permit or a state-issued handicap hangtag or license plates.  Please refer to the map above for directions to that parking lot and from the lot to Old Cabell Hall.

In Old Cabell Hall, the handicap box is fully wheelchair accessible.  Enter the building from the Lawn via the ramp on the right side of the hall.  Once inside the lobby, proceed to the right, through the double doorway and take the first left into a hallway leading to the handicap box in the auditorium.

The parking lot closest to the drop-off circle and the auditorium doors is the permit lot, restricted to those patrons with either handicap hangtags/license plates for their vehicles or a Symphony parking permit.

Symphony parking permits for the reserved lot at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Performing Arts Center cost $60.00 and are valid for the five Sunday Masterworks concerts.  Permit quantities are extremely limited and are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.  Contact the Symphony Office at (434) 924-3139 to purchase a permit.
