Make a Donation with a Check or Cash

  • You can increase the size of your gift and upgrade your donor benefits by including a completed corporate matching gift form from your employer.

Make a Gift of Securities

  • For gifts of stock, please visit this UVA Fund webpage for electronic transfer information.  Be sure to include your name and designate the Charlottesville Symphony Society as the recipient under the "Reference" line.

Transfer a Gift from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA)

  • You can make a direct transfer if:
    1. You are age 70 ½ or older on the day of the gift.
    2. You transfer up to $100,000 directly from your IRA to the Charlottesville Symphony Society.
  • This opportunity applies only to IRAs and not to other types of retirement plans. You will pay no income tax on the gift.  The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you don’t itemize your tax deductions.
  • Please consult your tax professional or IRA plan administrator for guidance.  Then contact the Symphony office at (434) 243-2513 or rnm4a@virginia.edu to obtain routing information.

Make a Memorial or Tribute Gift

  • Make a contribution in memory or in honor of a loved one, a favorite teacher or a respected colleague. A card will be sent notifying the family or honoree of your thoughtfulness.

Turn a Great Ride into Great Music

Donor Levels & Benefits

The donor benefits of the Annual Fund program are designed to bring you closer to the orchestra. Donors have special opportunities to meet the Charlottesville Symphony’s musicians, attend open rehearsals and enjoy behind-the-scenes events. Gifts up to $1,499 are fully tax-deductible. Gifts of $1,500 or more are assigned a non-deductible amount corresponding to the fair market value of benefits received.  Donors who wish to decline benefits and claim a full tax deduction may call the Symphony office at (434) 243-2513.

Planned Giving - The Encore Society

Plan for your future and ours – leave a lasting legacy of great music!

When you make a gift through your estate, either now or at the end of your life, you help secure the Symphony’s future.  Planned gifts provide benefits to the orchestra, but may also aid you in achieving your own financial and philanthropic goals.  Legacy donors have further discovered that gift planning can allow them to make much larger gifts than they had thought possible!

Donor-Advised Funds

What is a donor-advised fund?
A donor-advised fund is a type of giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to easily support the Charlottesville Symphony Society. An increasingly popular charitable vehicle, donor-advised funds are an excellent way to both simplify your charitable giving and facilitate your strategic philanthropic goals.

Recommend a gift to the Charlottesville Symphony Society now through your donor-advised fund using DAF Direct. 

  1. Select the sponsoring organization from the “Donate now from” field.
  2. Enter the amount (in dollars) you would like to recommend in the “Amount” field.
  3. Click on the “NEXT” button to proceed to the sponsoring organization’s website to complete your donor-advised fund transaction. Please note, you will be directed to an external website to complete your transaction.
